There's the Green Chilli in Stoneybatter (Manor Street/Aughrim Street junction). I haven't actually tried it but it's the only sit-down I know of in D7.

I've had delivery from Namaste Indian a few times and it was lovely, I think they do sit down as well.

Sounds like I'm too late but the best Indian I've ever had in Dublin was from Bombay 2 Go. It's jut behind Porterhouse North, although I think technically its D9.

Also Spice N' Rice on Dorset Street is great but again that's D1 I think.
I'm sure both would deliver to anywhere in D7.

Gill's Tandoori (take away) at Hanlons Corner on the Old Cabra Road is supposed to be amazing.

    Looks really dodgy as well.

OP, it's not looking good for a sit-down restaurant, you may as well go to town.

I know we're not supposed to be talking about take-away but The Bombay Pantry near Ashtown railway station is good.

    It's rubbish.

There are no decent Indians in the D7 area, I've tried them all. The nearest good place is Madina on Mary Street.

You should see Nemaste!.. But its turning out beautiful food.

However the OP is looking for a sit down Indian restaurant so it doesn't matter.

There's already a thread on Indian Takeaways.

Haven't eaten there but heard VERY good things about it. Pretty sure it's take-away only.

This is the one I'd recommend too... delivery is hit or miss sometimes, but as far as a sit down place in or around D7 it's probably the best.

Had a take away when it was on Dorset St and it was Lovely Whitworthroad was non descript. Might try Namiste been a few years since I have tried it, but again would love a sit down one.

It's actually one of the better cheapo Indian takeaways I've had in Dublin. Really good Dhal, Channa Masala and Mushroom rice. The starters are fairly terrible though, and they use frozen veg in the veg curries, which sucks.

I'm fairly sure it's just a takeaway, not a sit-down. I'm open to correction on that though as I've never actually been in it, I've only ordered from there.

Went to the reopened Green Chilli, or Kashmir as its now called, and was impressed. The place looks like an actual restaurant now, all that ****ty wood pannelling is gone. Their curries used to be too oily but everything was perfect; starters, mains and tea for 2 with a bottle of wine for 39 Euro. Can't go wrong with that

Thats sounds like a great deal alright, has it changed that much? Must pop down myself on Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭perfectisthe

I was there about a month ago, it's much improved over the Green Chile, but it still barely scrapes past average. The food wasn't that bad but I doubt I'd ever go back again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,477 ✭✭✭Hootanany

Might give Kashmir another go this evening heard they have a Bollywood Burner if you can finish it its free. Anyone tried it many thanks in advance.

Apparently there is a new (tiny) place in a basement on Bachelors Walk near the tanning place that is supposed to be good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭Schnooks

    Hi Folks

    Slight threadjack here, sorry :o

Would people recommend this place? Reviews say it is expensive and more Fusion than Indian? Looking for a nice authentic Indian somewhere close to town i.e. serves the usual dishes like vindaloo etc.

Anywhere around Stephens Green, Grafton St or Temple Bar/Westmoreland St etc would be good.
