    just found out my girlfriend and i are distant cousins, if my mother is 1st cousins to my girlfriends grandmother what does that make us to each other and do you think its wrong....its annoying me

    Then you and your girlfriend are "second cousins once removed". Your girlfriend's mother and you are second cousins, and if you had a child it would be a third cousin to your girlfriend .

    "Right" and "wrong" are a bit subjective in this case. Do you plan to have children together? If you were from British royalty this would not be uncommon. I believe it may equally be not uncommon among members of the Travelling Community (but I am unsure about this).

    If you and your girlfriend are planning to have children together I'd suggest genetic counselling first, though I'm not aware of anywhere in RoI where such counselling is available. It may be available in NI.
