    Hi there
    Looking for a car/carvan.
Ideally diesel and would need to have 3 seats in the front so could carry the kids and heaps of gear to the beach/picnics and have good boot space for bikes camping gear etc
I'm pretty competent at car maintenance so reliability doesn't play a huge factor unless it's a right dog!!
Was thinking of a multipla..so obviously looks aren't important either!!!
Anything else similar to the multipla seating wise that I may be overlooking?? And what's the new version of the multipla??

Budget is between 2 and 7 k... If spending 7 it would prob need to qualify for lower tax mid 2008 onwards

    Any thoughts???
    Cheers
    Marty.

Honda FRV is another - 1.7 engine - you won't get an 08 for €7k though. I've driven one and I'd buy one. Decent boot, decent space, especially if the front middle passenger is not too wide...:o

Honda FRV and Multipa are the only ones that I know of.

Landrover Defender hardtop (van), three seats across the front.
Worked pretty well for me until the 2nd and subsequent children arrived.
My wife and I did six weeks camping accross europe with eldest child in the middle seat, back was stuffed with camping gear and bikes. Middle seat only has a lap belt, so I put extra anchors in the bulkhead to secure the child seat.

Cheers lads handnt come across the frv before...is there a diesel version??
Drove a freelander recently and didn't like it at all.

What about carvans?? The skudo has 3 seats but I've yet to see a nice looking one. Any other vans??

Was the multipla discontinued or what would be it's 2008 onwards equivalent?? Doblo I'm guessing?
    Cheers
    Martin.

There is a diesel FRV but its 2.2 litre.

Multipla must have been discontinued around 2007/2008 I'd say. Pity.

You could look at the Berlingo Multispace which is a passenger version of the van but it doesn't have three seats in the front. However, the rear seats will fold and give you a van feel in the rear.

The Berlingo van (LX) has 3 seats in the front and will be a whole lot cheaper as it's a commercial vehicle and won't attract substantial VRT. If your looking for a second hand van then the price will be reflected accordingly.

The 3 seat Berlingo is only available in the newer Berlingo from 2009.

    Thanks lads
Yeah had considered the multispace but only 2 seats in the front would mean I'd have to leave the back seats in all the time
The multipla if I could get an 08 one with low tax woul be the ticket but I'm not sure one exists.

There is a nice Peugeot partner nearby that I might look at.
Don't see any berlingo sx on done deal

    Any thoughts on the partner?
    Cheers
    Marty.
