I know it's a little open ended but what's the minimum and maximum, generally, for insurance fraud?

I wouldn't risk it for anything less that what would keep me comfortable for the rest of my days.

in relation to fraudulent claims etc. on the part of a customer, detected by the company themselves, would they commence a civil prosecution , or would the case be referred to the Gardai for criminal investigation / prosecution under the criminal justice (theft & fraud) offences act?

considering insurance companies do employ their own investigators to conduct surveillance etc.

    a civil prosecution
No such thing. There is a civil action to recover money only.
or would the case be referred to the Gardai for criminal investigation / prosecution under the criminal justice (theft & fraud) offences act?
Yes, any charges would be brought by the DPP after a file is sent by the Gardaí.
considering insurance companies do employ their own investigators to conduct surveillance etc.
Irrelevant as they have no more standing than a private citizen.
