I can't find a post anywhere on the availability of a Saorview compliant
2 tuner pvr with mheg5 and series link.
    Does this product exist?
I realy do not want to go down the road of buying a Saorview box and then having to add an external hdd via usb.
Want to get rid of Sky and have purchased a Humax Freesat pvr which is terrific and looks after the satellite side but now need to look after the Terrestial side.
    Any suggestions please.

There are none yet, I'd expect them to be a good seller when eventually launched.

Series link as far as we know hasn't been implemented by any of the broadcasters on Saorview yet.

Some posters here have purchased the Humax FreeviewHD+ pvrs and seem to work OK for recording minus series link. The Humax should work with the Saorview series link, I believe the CRID information is based on a common european standard used by freeview and Nordig spec pvrs (and others).

You can have 5 favourite channels lists.

Can I list the channels in order of my preference like I did on the ferguson combo box thanks, maybe you answered my question above if so thanks for your reply.

I don't have any knowledge on the Ferguson Combo but I would imagine the same. You can put all the normal channels ie BBC and ITV in favourites 1 and then maybe news channels in favourites 2,childrens favourite 3 etc.

I've the same box, it's a fantastic piece of hardware but no, you cannot really order the channels ie. I wanted to replace BBC 1 with BBC1 HD and Channel4 with Channel4 HD etc and it cannot be done.

You can get a software hack, nearly certain I read about it an AV Forums that will let you move around the channels amongst other benifits but I really couldn't be bothered myself.

Hi JohnyLancer, I,m in exactly same position as you ( FreesatHDPVR for satellite) and I want to get rid of UPC for home terrestrial and get a saorview box (money tight). I've only become interested recently so don,t have a great knowledge of what's out there. Like you I would prefer a saorview box with a built in PVR but was told these are thin on the ground - LG might be bringing one out soon I was told. It looks like I will have to go for a receiver with recording via the USB to an external drive. I was looking at the TriaxTR112 which seems to have good reviews. Like you I would prefer an all in one box, but only for home product and not satellite. Have you come across anything suitable either in the stores now or coming in the near future, Regards, Madalynn Zealous Typographer

See my summary of Sony Freeview HDT 500 which has 2 tuners and both Freeview/Saorview on one epg - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056437493 (Posts 8/9/13)

Thanks very much Digifriendly for your response. I will of course look at your summary of the Sony Freeview HD 500. Thanks again, Madalynn Zealous Typographer

Sony HDT-500 and HDT-1000 are both listed in Sony Ireland's website. Interesting. Will they get Saorview certification in the future I wonder?

    Link to manual here.

Was in Sony shop yesterday in Lisburn and was told that Sony HDT 500 was certified for Saorview. BTW with the Sony HDT 500 I'm having problems setting 2 timer recordings (one Freeview, one Saorview) from epg at the same time. Only one is being recorded. Both tuners are working OK for I can record directly from 2 channels at same time by pushing direct record button and can set timer for 2 Freeview or 2 Saorview recordings and it will record both but not a mixture of one each. Advantage of direct recording is that at least you can extend time to quite a few hours and 64x speed means you can fast forward very quickly to point where you want to watch desoired programme.

Have seen this Toshiba HDR5010KB 500GB on sale on Amazon for under €200 delivered to Ireland.I presume this meets the Saorview spec.
Maybe someone will let me know.

Like you got rid of UPC and use a Humax Foxsat HDR and am very pleased wit it.

I did want a Saorview with built in recorder but not out there so went for a Digihome box from Power City for €59. They do not seem to do it now though. It was cheapest at time as a fill-gap but I have found it very good and records to external HD fine. Not a lot to record on Irish stations anyway.

If this one was available, http://satworld.ie/product-info.php?Opticum_HDT50_Irish_DTT_Terrestrial_Receiver-pid180.html I would probably have tried it as it is cheaper and I find Sat World very helpful and you cannot really go wrong for €45 even in these tough times.

By the By, get whatever before budget as VAT goes up..............
