    Hi Folks,
Just wondering long I should allow from Kent Station to UCC mid morning?
Would it be doable in ten mins in a taxi?
And how long to walk it.

When I didn't get the number 5 last year I would walk from Kent to UCC, and it would usually take about... twenty minutes, more? I never really timed myself and would get distracted listening to my Walkman so that I would lose track of time. I don't think a taxi could do it in ten.

The number 5 bus goes from outside the station every 15-20 mins.it takes about 30 minutes to walk!!if you have a 9 o clock lecture you will never get to ucc in 10 or 15 minutes the trafic is absolutely crazy at this time same goes for after 5 o clock if your coming back traffic is hectic!!!!

Actually trying to figure if I could make a 10am lecture in 10minish by taxi!
Might be more doable than 9am?!

Student monthly fares are quite reasonable for the buses. Offhand, taxis are about 6-7e from Kent to UCC.

as others have posted - No. 5 bus is the way to go - get a student monthly ticket

bus leaves every 15 mins and you are at UCC within 10/15 mins

there are stops on the western road (near the main gate) on Donovans Road and at four locations along College Rd (esp handy if you are going to Brookfield)

Stops on Donovans Road as well, cuts out having to climb the steps if you get off on the Western Road! ;)

its about a 30 min walk through the city - best way to go is down Oliver Plunkett street, straighter run than Patricks Street.

10am lectures would be doable by taking the 9.30 bus from Kent Station - Monday and Tuesday i left Kent at 8.30 and was on campus by 9.

Taking a taxi every time will work out very expensive - monthly city bus ticket for a student is around €55, giving you unlimited use of any of the city buses.

I'd just like to add that I get the use the train weekly and never rely on the number 5 bus. I have waited upwards of 1hr30mins. It's good when it comes but it rarely comes every 15-20 minutes.

I find it safer to just walk to patrick street and get the number 8...or just walk all the way to UCC (about 40minutes).

The first bus stop where the #5 & #8 co-service would be the one just along from the bus station at the front of the taxi rank. That might save you a trip to Patrick's St.

I think the walk would do ye all some good. :D It's not particularly bad, I did it four days a week for 9 o' clock lectures. :D

Number 5 isnt the most reliable service, like someone said above walk to patrick street and get no 8, there every 10-15 mins

A taxi might be doable in 10 minutes, but the traffic can be hectic
