Now, while I am arguably the most normal person on AH....(cough)....there are times were I am convinced I am loosing my marbles.

Have you found yourself lately doing stuff or saying things to others that makes you think you are one of the looney tunes???

I think I have started my second childhood!:eek::P:cool:

If my marbles are too tight, I have to loosen them too.

Today I was convinced my arms and my hands weren't mine.

I question my sanity quite often.
    Most days infact.

Yep, I thought I was going insane/having a nervous breakdown earlier this year.

Turns out I had chronic vertigo which was throwing me off-balance and causing me major stress.

Feel great now as I've made loads of healthy changes to my life as a direct result of the fright I got.

Gave up smoking fags and weed and don't drink very often either.

The only place with a higher percentage of mentalists than boards is a psychiatric ward.

You have to have sanity to question it.

Not sure if the OP is serious or not. Yes, actually, I did. I'm not ashamed to say I have had some mental imbalances, episodes, whatever you want to call them. Never had any serious repercussions because thankfully I always had people close to me who'd notice it happening.

It's gotten to a stage where it's becoming acceptable to admit that one suffers or has suffered from depression (or grief... see other thread!) but we're not really there yet with other psychological disorders that revolve around psychosis.

Unlike depression, we find it easy to laugh at psychosis. That's not necessarily a bad thing as long as we're prepared to use that humour to 'break the tension' surrounding certain psychological disorders. A great example of this in action is 'mad pride' in Cork (none in Dublin yet, talk of it happening next Summer)

However, if we fail to get past what can, sometimes, be the humorous side of psychosis, or use it to our advantage in addressing the illnesses that it takes in, then we are missing out on a major opportunity. That's why events like Mad Pride are so important: because the first step is to de-stigmatize it, the second is to engage with it.

Lets see...in the last few weeks ive heard beeping in silent rooms, thought tuna was a bird for a few minutes, could smell apple and rhubarb crumble for no reason, sat in work making truck noises, laughed at the coffee machine also in work and periodically make a noise I can only describe as BLAUMAGALLOOF........im perfectly fine.

Meh , i've had heavy incidents of hallucination, dissociation and depersonalization over the last 12 months.

So i reckon i am closing in on genuinely nuts instead of "oh look how mad i am".

    Can be quite scary.

Have had hallucinations in the past - also terrifying.

I once convinced my little brother that cats were a type of worm which happened to have fur and legs, and the tail was just a smaller extension of their worm-body. I also told my cousin that when Charles Darwin invented evolution he made giant worms which burrowed under London to create the underground.

So no... Sanity isn't my strong point.
