    Hey folks.

    I am doing a thesis exploring what type of effect 24 hour news reporting has had on the standards and principles of journalism.

    Sounds interesting. I would have replied if it were still open. You've probably done so already, but John Pilger is inteesting on this topic, and I think Al Jazeera analysed it in a programme called 'Inside Story' a couple of weeks ago. Care to elaborate a bit more on your topic, simply because it sounds so interesting?

    In my view 24 hour news reporting relies heavily on disasters, wars and events like the recent riots in London. They tend to sensationalise these events in order to maximise viewership. Other than these events people hardly ever watch the 24 hour news channels. A strange existence they have hoping for bad, catastrophic events to occur in order to get viewers.
