Paying Registration Fees?

I'm going into first year and I saw there that you have to pay your fees for the incoming year by 1st September? How do I do that if i'm not in Dublin until 16th or 17th? Also, the Library Board are paying my registration fee, so how do I let them know this? Can I not just take the letter with me to tell them when I register? My loan doesn't come in until 26th September. =S

Just give the Treasurer's office a call and they'll tell you what to do. Check out their part of the website. http://www.tcd.ie/Treasurers_Office/

Free tuition fees but registration fee is €2000 and then an extra €85 for sports or something, so €2085 altogether! =/

if you qualify for a county council grant, do you still have to pay it?

Afaik (and I'm hoping) that the council grant covers the €2000 and you have to pay the €85 yourself..

I think they can pay it yeah but i'm not sure because I live in Northern Ireland so I don't know much about your grants system.

Does the 85 have to be paid by the first too? I can't get the website for paying to work...

I just emailed them asking about ePay... every year TCD is always the last to send out the packs so have a look at your pack online just in case you need to print off the forms in worst case scenario :)

No, you only pay the €85. €8 of that is optional (for USI) and €77 for the sports centre can be waived if you're in financial difficulty.

If you are getting a grant it will cover the 2,000 and you pay the sports and USI levy yourself.

If you have a letter from the grant authority send it to the Fees Office in advance of registration ......this will avoid delays at registration.....otherwise bring it with you when you come to registration.

Do you know if the extra €85 Sports charge is compulsory or is it just if you going to join sports clubs and stuff? Because I'm not exactly the typical sporty type of person so I'm kind of confused

It's compulsory. As a student you'll be able to use the gym/sports centre for free. But membership isn't optional.

    The breakdown is:

€2000 Student Contribution (AKA Registration Fee)
    €77 Sports Centre Levy
    €8 USI Levy

People have said on this forum that the USI levy is optional, but it says on the back of the form that both levies are compulsory. So I don't know.

Depending on your financial situation you might get a refund on the Sports Centre & USI Levy. I don't know what the story is with it, all I know is that last year one of my friends got sent a cheque back for the €85 because of something to do with her financial situation, or some financial thing that she qualified for.

Since when has that been optional? You have to pay it... (and have had to for the last 3 years at least)

There was a thread about not paying it. I think a few members on here didn't.

Has anyone filled out and returned the free fees form yet?

It says we're supposedly meant to send it off before registration but since we haven't received the posted packs, should we wait until then? Especially since our student numbers "are not found" on ePay yet.

    1st september? Whaaaaaaat? :o

Just thought I'd post this here, I was speaking to a woman about fee payment deadlines and forms etc yesterday and she told me that the 1st of September only applies to continuing students! :) Incoming freshmen only have to make sure they pay before registration! HTH

I got my registration pack this morning and i filled out the forms and sent them back, but I spoke to a woman in the fees office the other day and she said we couldn't access epay until we received a fee demand in the post which should arrive sometime next week.

okay another question, i've applied for the county council grant and hopefully i'll get it. but i don't think i'll get it before september 1, so does that mean i just have to pay the 2000 anyway and the council will refund me?
    i'm so confused! :(

Are you JF or SF onwards?

If JF there's a form in the booklet that specifies where the money should be coming from, (GeF1 or something?) fill in the grant authority and pay the €85. Then you'll be able to register. When you get the grant you then drop a letter with the grant application ref number into the treasurer's office. If you don't get it you do the same thing and work from there. Council doesn't have to refund you.

If you're SF and above, go to the treasurer's office and ask for a grant payment form.

USI Levy is optional and it's up to you whether you choose to pay it or not.

Yeah you don't have to pay the €7/8 for the SU if you don't want to, you're just encouraged to. In days of yore, these used to pop up a lot.

People going into SF have to pay by the 1st?
