A few months ago i purchased photoshop and Lightroom for my son who was attending Waterford IT, he was on his 1st year of a 4 yr course.

He immediately activated the programme and after the month was expired he was too busy to sit down and finalise registering the product with Adobe.

6 weeks ago he emigrated to the USA and he reckons he wont ever come back so i was wondering have we any way on getting a refund from Adobe or Amazon as it was purchased through amazon.

A quick look at Amazon's return policy reveals:
Can I return some software I bought from Amazon.co.uk?

We won't accept the return of any software returned to us if it's been opened. We reserve the right to refuse returns or to charge you our fees and expenses if the product is not received in new, unopened condition.

    This seems very unfair.

I paid over €300 yet I never had the software even registered as Adobe now won,t register it as son is left college.

So I paid €300 for fresh air. :(

can't hurt to send an email to adobe and amazon explaining the situation. you'd have to do it anyway if they were going to offer a refund.

He went on a holiday visa and that's all to say.

He has no pc of his own in the US and he is not coming back he is working hard to survive over there.

I see. Maybe you go too your shop putting up an add for it. Maybe a student mite buy it.

Also them holiday visas are only for 90days. He gets caught over and it'll be a long time before he can go back too the states. He's chancing his arm over there doing that.
