What is Figo's legacy?

I see Luis Figo at the draw for the Champion league, and I was wondering...

How will Luis Figo be remembered within football circles, in the decades to come? Will he be considered a great of the game, like Best, Pele, or Zidane? Will he be simply another great player, like Ronaldinho, Raul or Van Basten? Or was he just a flash in the pan, overrated by many? What do you think?

For myself, I have to say his legacy is fading as time passes. The likes of Zidane and Ronaldo remain abolute legends, but the deeds of Figo have been forgotten by me. I can't remember big games he dominated, magic goals, or any of those special moments that define football. That could be just me, having never really followed him at his pomp, but I think his legacy will fall very short of that of the real superstars of the game.

    What do you think?

I think he was one of the best of his generation, one of his countries greatest ever and along with Giggs the best winger of the last 20 years. I think in other places, particularly the Iberian Peninsula, he will be considered in the same way Best is in Britian and Ireland by a lot of people.

He played at a very high standard until a late age and managed to adapt his game when his pace wasn't there anymore and still have a big impact at Inter.

I don't think he's on the level of Van Basten, Zidane, Maldini etc, but he's on par with Giggs, Bergkamp, Henry etc and will be remembered as such.

Ushering in the wholly enjoyable era of pigs' heads as projectile expressions of crowd betrayal.

Just as vital as Mr. Zidane to the various clubs, and country, he played for.

A very good player - like many have said here, probably a level below the true greats of the game.

The goal I'll remember him for is this one. The turning point of the match as England had raced into a 2-0 lead. Figo took the game by the scruff of the neck then and well...did this

Apologies, don't know how to embed Google vids.

A great player. I preferred Rivaldo from that Barcelona team though. Now there's a man who is being forgotten too quickly IMO.
