Ive a four gun safe and I routinely wipe guns down after use. Yet one shotgun seems to keep rusting in the safe. What do ye use to soak up any moisture or dampness that might be in the safe?

I put a large silica gel pack into mine I got it from the packaging that comes with a leather sofa, I have not had any moisture problems but its there just in case

If you look on shoot.ie they have a gunsafe dehumidifier for sale , its cheap enough i think , it might be worth a go.

Alternatively you can soak a sponge or rag with wd40 or similar and leave it in the safe, the fumes it gives off should help.

    Hi,

I got a Golden Rod from Brownells. Works a treat, and uses 8 watts of electricity, so it's cheap to run. I did have to drill a 1" hole in the base of the safe, as it was slightly too wide to fit my 4 gun safe.

I use Silica packs as mentioned.

Also Napier VP90. I keep my safe in a bedroom as well so it doesn't get high rises and falls in temp...

Silica gel bags, even a few of the little ones seem to work OK.

My safe was in the garage for nearly 2 years, previous house. No trace of moisture.

Nappies are the easiest source of silics packs, just tear it open and take the pack out :)

    Golden Rod and Gel packs.

    Big Fella,

The one gun that gets rusty, rub it dry of old oil and get yourself some Mobil One synthetic motor oil and lightly coat. Works for me. ;)
