As above, Amazon selling them from their warehouse section.

Great deal for an eReader and shipping seems to be free also.

Just tried on both .com ($99) and .co.uk (£68), and neither of them will ship the refurbed ones to Ireland

Yeah, tried to buy a refurbished Kindle before. They don't ship them here... shame!

what about deliverme.ie and those kinds of sites? or would it not be worth it after that?

also, if anyone does decide to buy a kindle, don't buy the non-3G one as the 3G one works worldwide and the data transfer is totally free, so if you use the built in experimental web browser (which actually works pretty well for static content) you have free web browsing (and email if you use gmail etc.) *almost* anywhere in the world that you can get a mobile signal on a device that can go for several weeks without needing charging. :)

yep, surfing boards right now on my kindle free of charge in Tenerife, works best on mobile versions of websites and lasts a full day with 3G on and surfing constant.

Yes, but the MP3 player is shocking.

You're also liable to get the dreaded "lines on screen" e-ink issue that troubles so many.

Get one only if your REALLY REALLY REALLY into reading books!

The 3G is handy too for web browsing but the browser is about as useful as a Nokia 3310 one!

i have a kindle 3 and so does a mate of mine (and a sony reader before that) and never had any issues like that, nor heard of them having that issue.

or magazines, or newspapers, or anything for that matter. i have a lot of work documents that i need to keep referencing and it's great for carrying them around in a compact, easily searchable format.

yes, a 3310 with a 6" screen and probably 8x the resolution.

the browser is perfectly usable for checking your email, or if you're just reading blogs or forums or news sites and don't want to be carrying round a laptop with you everywhere.

Ordered a 3G refurb for my mum last week (have a NI address to ship to). She should have it next week so will report back when it arrives. Doesn't come with a charger (just USB cable) so ordered a cheap 3rd party one too.

Thanks tallpaul- unfortunately there's no 3g option which is probably the way to go? Have a UK address I could have used, so that wasnt a prob

ditto. with the 3G kindle, whispernet gives you totally free, all you can eat data on the kindle anywhere it gets a signal, globally, forever.

    |True that. Although the data works for the UK. I was still hopping in and out of McDonald's in the states to pick up papers.
