Probably because he's bottom of the rankings.

Play suspended. We will be getting a lot of that over the next few days. I would be surprised if goes past 54 holes.

You dont want to see him in the lead too early, he's a great front runner.

lol... true enough!... i had conspiracy theorized that it was due to his rep for slow play.

C'mon Stevie, it's just like being back in the race car. You can take it home from here. Pity he has to give Adam a 90% cut of his winnings

    Good birdie start for Harrington.

Harrington with a great start. 2 under through 4 and the 5th is a par 5.

That has to be the shortest par 4 I've ever seen on the PGA tour, 360 yards. With that he is also within the top 100, which is needed for the next round.

    Really? The 18th is 285 ;)

There's usually at least 1 drivable par 4 these days on tour. The PGA Championship 2 weeks ago had a hole at 280 yards for a few days also.

3 under through 6. 100% GIR so far. Miracles galore

He's been in decent form the past couple of weeks, he should make the cut.

Harrington 4 under after 11. 12th is a par 5 so another good chance. Sunset in 10 minutes though, I think.

I can't get a stream since Sky Sports stopped covering, but I would expect sunset to be later than that.

In that case the PGA website took quite a while to update.

A brilliant day for Harrington, in his current position he qualifies for the next round.

EDIT: Will McGirt was on an incredible run when play was suspended.

McGirt's last 8 holes going to 11 were: birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, par, birdie, birdie, birdie. Astonishing.

PH continues to move up leaderboard, having birdied 12th before close of play last night to move -4, he has up and downed from 80y on par 5 13th for another bird, -5 now with the lead at -7.

Par 5 16th, and 285y 18th par4 should present obvious chances to go lower.

I cant remember a first rd as encouraging as this for a LONG time. And man, he needs it.

    Keep it lit PH :)

    482 yards

Hope shot tracker is having a moment :D

Uh oh. Only moved his drive 150y on the 482y par4 14th. I can only assumed it hit trees early, or he topped it!!!!

    Following it on shottracker

I just noticed that too - they've now updated it to 361 yards straight down the fairway, I'm not sure which is less likely!!

    What a strange shot :o
He would wait until the longest par 4 on the course to do this of course :pac:

Following shot tracker last night apart from one fairway bunker all other misses were just off the fairway so green in regulation is over 90%.

Updated again to show that was where his second shot went, long putt for par. Looking at first bogey.

    Birdied the 16th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭PRAF

55 yd pitch, stone dead. Birdie on 16! C'mon Paddy, bring it home

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭PRAF

Looks like he made a mess of his iron shot on 17, average chip BUTnailed his 10 footer for par. -5 with the 18th to play.

GMAC and Poulter need something good in round 2 to keep their FedEx hopes alive.

    Thank god for Shottracker! :)

Great round from Harrington, keep the form going into the next round now please.
Could go to a 54 hole tourny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭PRAF

An opening round of 66 makes it 5 consequtive rounds in the 60s for Harrington. Showing a nice bit of late season form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

his second round commences today at 2:35 ( 9:35 usa time ).

Its possible this could be a 54 hole event... which would suit PH big time.

amazed to see his name on the leaderboard without having to do the usual dreaded scroll down the page... hoping and praying a tricolor appears soon... and getting more annoyed at PH the more scrolling there is.

today is a good day.... yay!

It gets better...Harrington having a solid day and Shamrock rovers drawn with Spurs...Bring it on!!!

I'm so looking forward to the weekend now. All i need is that Suarez & Co to do the business against Bolton.

This will all end in tears fellas. I believe once PH made it into the fedex playoffs last week, a boards moratorium should have been enforced preventing the mentioning of said golfer until he can at least get his season back on track. The jinxing powers of these threads are not to be taken lightly and have severly hampered the careers of several Irish golfers(and Andrew Coltart) in recent years. Who here can argue that there is a direct correlation between PH's decline and the increase boards.ie forum activity relating to him and his prospects? You can't argue with science people!! Do the right thing. Lock this thread before it's too late!!!

surely then we can control the outcome of this event by doing the exact opposite of what you desribe above and adding in an mountainous amount of pessimism to boot?

if youre answer is no than you undermine youre own argument. suck on that!

You're just bitter coz you jinxed Michael Campbell into missing another cut a few months back. The jinx is strong in you...:p
