Big fan of Merchant's scripted comedies and comedy acting, not to mention his radio work, I find it all to be very funny. I'm very much considering getting tickets to his show in Vicar Street this November, but I'm a bit wary because I've been let down by people like that's comedy before, so does anyone know anything about his stand-up routine? Any good? Has he even performed as a stand up on a tour before?

I know he started out doing stand up before he became a writer but other than that I've no idea what his material is like or anything

    Reviews and comments seem promising.

Really looking forward to this one, huge fan of Merchant. Having listened to all of the Xfm shows and podcasts numerous times through, I think he's the "brains" behind The Office. That's not to say I don't rate Gervais' involvement, but Merchant just seems wittier somehow, whereas Gervais provides the more outrageous gags. I imagine they work so well as a pairing because they provide different sides, but Merchant's on-air personality seems like it would lend itself well to stand-up.

As said above, reviews have been promising. How much of that is down to the fact that he's already an established name in the comedy world I don't know, but I have high hopes for the show.

Some say he is awful just bragging about his success but others say he is endearing but still a bit braggy! I know he is an established name but for someone's first stand up tour I find the ticket prices are too expensive so i'll give it a miss

That's a pretty great review actually. I wasn't inclined to going but think I will now!
