    Hey all,

Contemplating applying for this course through the vacant places list on the CAO. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience as to what the course is like or what to expect?

Also if I do apply I'll be moving from Dublin so will need accommodation & some sort of job. Anyone been through similar? How did you find it? And anyone making the journey out west this coming year for college?

    Cheers!

    Hey scooby2791,
I started college in castlebar last year. I am not doing the accounting course, I am doing the business and computer applications one, but have a fair few of my classes with the accounting class. Anybody I know in the accounting course like the course, most subject have some continious assesment which is good when it comes to exams! Plus the lecturers are fairly sound too! And the timetable wasnt bad either! :)
I travel from home to college so dont know that much about accomodation, but im pretty sure the students union do an accomodation list which might help, and I know that there are a couple of student villages near the college!! Nephin halls is one of them!! Hope this info helps, and best of luck if you move west!! :)

Just so Your prepared but I really dont rate GMIT Castlebar, I was there for 2 years and found it the most boring place to live and the college really isnt professional, Saying that if Your certain of going there stay at Nephin rather than Hawthorn better crack at Nephin even though Hawthorn is(Was) cheaper and the pretty nurses are gone half the year another negative:(
