Courage Under Fire

After watching the news on RTE1 here and I was taken back with the vivality and I suppose passion of Margaret Ward's report on Tripoli in Libya. She seemed very upbeat about the whole affair and spoke of rebels checking their vehicle as if it was an everyday thing. Not a flinch or flicker of fear did I see.

I couldn't help but think if I was in her shoes I would be bricking it. When I hear one of those boy racer cars go 'bang' by the house I get a hop and don't get me started on the fireworks at Halloween.

So Ah'ers - how do you think you would react if you had to report in a war torn country with the threat of gun fire mere meters away?

Its a pretty mental job that nobody knows if they will be able to do it until they get out there. It takes a really instinctively ballsy person to do it.

Every time I turn on the TV and see a Tripoli report I can't help but think of Damien Day.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Why would she be fearful of a Libyan rebel checkpoint? Those guys love the western media.

I'd be pretty fearful if I was passing an armed troupe that could be ambushed at any point. Maybe there is nothing to fear and it's safe there but I wouldn't like to find out.
