I wouldn't base my course choice jsut on hours.
I do engineering(with circa 30 hours a week 1st and second year, and I'm pretty sure it's up around 35 this year) and i'd still rather do it over Bess/ppes etc//

The big question really is do you want to be a Dental Hygienist or work in the legal profession, what you want to do until you're old and grey......two very different careers !!! Two very different courses too...I had dental hygiene as my second choice but got my first choice in DIT, so I guess I wouldn't have been seeing you either way ;)

I wouldn't be scrapping it because of the hours. You're gonna have to work long hours in real life, I'm quite glad I started doing it in college. Means that working life wasn't a shock! :)

the hours made very little difference as that would be the worst thing to base my decision on the comment was more tongue in cheek i chose law mainly due to the fact the degree can open so many doors than the dental hygiene diploma and gives you many more options at the end
