I heard this on radio this morning, that a single lady who has a profile on fb/dating sites would regularly get messages from married men?.

Has this happened to anyone here,is it very common?.

Two broken hearts, a divorce lawyer and the rent on a new apartment. Not even going to get into the extra costs if you want to date or have kids.

Well if they want to have kids they should. Marriage allows for a couple to be jointly assessed by revenue meaning that one partner can give up work to concentrate on raising the children.

Ah now, traditional marriage is by no means the only way. Many couples enjoy having mutually consensual extra-martial encounters. Sure even boards.ie cater for this demographic with The Cuckold's Nest forum.

    What's that? Cuckoo's? Ohhhh....

Did you even read my post? Despite what year you are in the revenue system is still the same. A married couple get jointly assessed which means that if only one spouse is working they get twice the number of tax credits meaning they pay much less tax. This in turn allows a married couple to be much more financially secure with having one of them permanently at home with the child.

In contrast, an unmarried couple with a child would be under a much greater financial burden if one of them wished to remain at home with the child because the working parent would not have the use of their partners tax credits and would pay a much higher amount of tax.

Less tax, does not match up to 2 wages.

Despite what you think, women these days don't want to be housewives, they want to work!

In Ireland it's mostly for the tax breaks.

Who said it did? I said that a married couple are much more financially able to have one parent not working. I don't see why you are arguing this. It's a fact.

    It can be either partner.

The post didnt specify if it was the man or woman to stay home.

And there are plenty of women and men who would love to be stay at home parents if their partners earnings allowed it - and double tax credits can help make that possible. Its not for everyone but it is a possible reason for getting married. Lots of people dont really believe it makes a difference and can be just as in love and committed without the piece of paper. The tax incentives are a big reason for lots of people to get married.
