What to do with old satellite dish?

    Hi guys,

So Sky left behind an old Satellite dish when we got rid of the Sky package and we're on NTL now but are thinking of switching to Satellite TV.

Could anyone tell me what options I have with this dish? Im new to the Satellite world but I would fancy my chances at doing anything myself. Would I be better off getting a new dish for any reason?

I suppose what we are looking for would be the Irish and UK usual channels, then if we could get the football that would be great? Would this involve more than one satellite? Is there a way to do this?

because I'm new to the area Im not even sure what questions I should be asking!

    Thanks!

The Sky dish is pointing at 28 deg east so it will work with a Sky, freesat or FTA satellite receiver.

The Irish channels and sports are only available with a Sky subscription. The Irish channels are available free (tv licence required) of course with an aerial.

    Yup,,be worth holding onto it....

You can use it to pick up ITV 2,3 and 4 which are no longer on UPC.

A reciever/sat box will be needed though.

Yeah we can pick up a receiver no problem. Any recommendations? Dreambox?

s getting the football on the current setup impossible? And if I did want it, would I need a bigger dish and to realign the dish?

Yeah,,a dreambox,or openbox could do it alright. Depends on exactly what you want, and how much you want to pay.

You could get the football by streaming via your pc. Sometimes the quality don't be the best though.

You can get it with the sky dish set-up by paying a subscription to sky.

Other than that, only other method would be illegal, and can't be discussed here.

    :D

I thought you could aim your dish at a foreign satellite and get it that way? Buy buying a cheap subscription card is that right? Or is that illegal?

    Nooooooooo...Not a bit.....

I'm not up to date on the Foregin stuff,,but once again,,it'll depend on what sat you'll be looking to go for...Your dish may not be big enough for those sats.

I was thinking of ehhhhhh...More devious methods.....Ahem.....(Not allowed to be discussed here,or on most other Forums).

    ;)
