Dreambox DM800 HD slowing my broadband connection

I opted to purchase the Dreambox DM800 HD receiver and got everything installed by a professional and its working perfectly fine and im impressed with the quality especially the HD channels however I noticed there had to be a catch as there is no doubt it is slowing my broadband connection down.

I have a 3M connection with vodafone but am only getting 1.5m due to us living in the country side and not long ago could not even get broadband. Before the installation of the box my connection was faster but now its slower. I noticed the guy when doing the wiring connects an ethernet cable to my router.

I was thinking of ordering another box for my other room and get that installed but no way I can if its going to slow my connection and even now im considering getting this one removed as he should have told me installing this would slow my broadband connection down when I already have a poor connection. At the moment I have Sky as well and obviously that works fine and doesn't use my broadband connection.

Any views on this? anyone had a similar problem to this? Im guessing if you had a much faster connection say even a 10m it would be grand.

Also how do you get the pin code for the receiver as im unable to make any changes to it? It gives you 3 tries and I dont have a clue.

    Thanks

1.5 mb line should be fine to receive channels but any downloading would cause the channels to glitch

you should ring the person who installed it to get the pin off him or try the usual 0000 - 1234

    Okay TT09 thanks for that.

Yea I will give him a ring to find out as I tried the usual 0000 or 1234 and it still doesn't work. Also the channels all work fine. Its more by broadband connection im worried about as sometimes when just even browsing websites it takes a while to load up and it didn't do that before I got this set up.
