after a lull in album quality these last few months we have some interesting albums being released in the next month (it started with the release of stephen malkamus and the jicks latest today) or so from:

    beirut

    clap your hands say yeah

    the drums

    death in vegas

    ry cooder

    tinariwen

    wilco

    laura marling

    dEUS

    st vincent

    kasabian

    bjork

    red hot chili peppers

    jane's addiction
and some others i may have forgotten

are you excited about any impending releases? I am particularly looking forward to wilco's new one and also deus

strange thing is that usually, at least with regard to the bands i like, they all release albums in a very short window of time, and then there are infrequent releases from artists a like and then a load released in a very narrow timeframe again, anyway the next month or we are entering the red zone in terms of frequency of album releases from quality artists in my opinion, so enjoy

Looking forward to Bjork's new one (hoping it's an improvement on Volta, which I didn't really care for.) Didn't realise The Drums and Laura Marling were releasing new stuff so I will look forward to them too. Hoping the Drums one will be a bit different to the debut; they have to show they're not just one trick ponies. Meanwhile, Laura Marling has to somehow top the excellent I Speak Because I Can. Won't be an easy job.

    A few more worth mentioning:
Santigold is releasing her second album in September.
Tom Waits releasing his new one Bad as Me on October 25th.
And The Knife are currently recording a new album (it probably won't be out until 2012 but I'm already looking forward to it!)

Sounds like hes back to the Whiskeytown era sound that spawned Heartbreaker.....Has gone off the boil in recent years with his prolific bar room guile, but this sounds tidy.....:)

Better than his last few albums combined. :)
    Looking forward to hearing more.

There definitely won't be one out this year, maybe next year as they seems to be taking 3 years between albums now. There is however a new DVD on the way called We Come In Pieces.

7 or 8 listens in and its pretty weak to be honest. Hopefully that'll change but I'm left wanting all the same.
