Mudguard Recommendations?

    Hi All,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a good set of full length mudguards for my Hybrid bike.
Previously I had something similar to these:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25794

The small fixings that keep the mudguard in shape snapped bit by bit eventually leading to the mudguard rubbing badly off the wheels. In the end I had to remove them as I lost patience. They only lasted me a few months.

I was looking at something like these:

Or would anyone have any other recommendations on a good set of full length mudguards that I can just put on and won't have any issues with them falling apart.

    Thanks :)

    Thanks :)

I got the ones above about a month ago and they completely fell apart in like a week. They lasted about 30km before breaking at speed when hitting a bump, which meant i lost the tiny screws that comes with them...not impressed to be honest. I'll be interested in what is mentioned in this thread because i need replacements!

I got the Cruds before last winter. Worked a treat keeping the wet off most of the bike and me. However that goes out the window if your riding in a group and behind someone who hasn't stuck on even a basic guard. You'll get showered on a wet day!

Also the Cruds can be a bit tight and might need some manipulation to fit the tyre and the frame. Still probably the best out there!

I can't stand the Cruds, I hated the first ones they brought out and the second generation ones are even worse!

The SKS commuters aren't too bad,but if you want some thing decent try here http://www.gillesberthoud.fr/anglais/fiche_detaillee/fiche.php?refArticle=211INO704/CL

I use SKS Chromoplastics on all my bikes and I can't fault them.

I used the original cruds two winters ago and the Mk II version last winter without problem. I've already bought in this winter's set

Lets not forget the OP is fitting these to a hybrid bike and not a road bike, the (stupid) cruds won't be wide enough for it!

I have the cruds on my winter bike. They work a treat, can't fault them.
Mind you, I spent a while fitting them properly.
If your tyres are wider than 28mm, forget about them. There is a warning on the CRC about maximum width.

I know they don't look as nice as the others linked to above but I have something similar on my mountain bike and they work brilliantly. They are lightweight, keep me dry and are pretty secure. I think the ones I have are from BBB.

I'm still using a set similar to the cruds shown above on my road bike with 700 x 23c tyres,
the plastic at the triangle on the front and rear left and right is quite weak,
I don't cycle a huge mileage at all so i can only go by how many months i have them.
The roads in Limerick are not at all suitable for tiny tyres.

I have these on my Hybrid. The front was very fiddly to put on and required some manipulation(bending). Once they're on, they are great.
