Can anyone tell me if CIT advertise vacant plces on the CAO website or would it be better advised to ring the college itself and get info from the registration office and let them know that im interested in studying places that become available at the college.......

Do the vacant places not become the second and third round of offers

Available / Vacant Places (for 2011 entry)
After Round Two, the Available Place facility operates on a weekly schedule of applications, offers and acceptances. Applications that arrive in CAO before 11:00 on a Monday will be processed and considered for offers on the following Thursday. An offer posted on a Thursday will be available to view on the CAO website the following day.

Note: To view the list of courses with available places/vacant places, click on the 'Available Place Courses' icon, above.

IMPORTANT: Application for an Available Place/Vacant Place course does NOT guarantee an offer for that course. Applicants must satisfy the Minimum Entry requirements as specified by the relevant HEI.

IMPORTANT: Mature applicants and applicants who have qualifications other than the Irish Leaving Cert and/or FETAC are categorised as Non-Standard Applicants. Such applicants must contact the appropriate HEI before completing an available place application.

IMPORTANT: An application should not be made for any course without first consulting the information literature of the institution offering that course.
    Existing Applicants
If you are a current-year applicant (i.e., you have a CAO Application Number beginning with '11'), you may make an available place application on-line without payment of a further fee.

Click on the 'Existing Applicant' button to log-in to your CAO account and make an on-line available place application.

So the answer is....www.cao.ie unless you're a mature student etc
