    Hi

Has anyone got private dance lessons for the first dance?

We are not getting dance lessons and I can't dance at all. But the first dance doesnt have to be coreographed, it should just be the 2 of you enjoying your first slow dance as a married couple.

I youtubed a few first dances and the coreographed waltzes just looked SO cheesy and embarassing.

My husband's granny is a professional ballroom dancer so she and his uncle gave us lessons before the big day.

We didn't so much want a 'coordinated' type dance, more we wanted to be confident enough to move around the dance floor and not be doing that sort of awkward shuffling from one foot to the other in the middle. When we were practicing at home, I'd tie a big double bed sheet around my waist so the hubby could get used to dancing with me wearing a big dress, he had this awful fear that he'd stand on it during the dance and rip it or something ;)

While I hate the choreographed dances, there's nothing worse than the awkward shuffle. Getting lessons to give you confidence is a great idea.

I agree with the other posts, overly choreographed dances can look cringey. My fiance has two left feet so I was thinking of just a few casual lessons for confidence to get somewhere between him stepping on me and looking like Ross and Monica Gellar. :D

I think one of the best things to come out of the dancing lessons is my hubby will actually dance with me at weddings now! I love dancing and I'd literally spend the entire night on the dancefloor, but he hated it and I reckon it was because he didn't have any sense of rhythm or confidence when he was dancing. Since getting the lessons he's danced with me at all the weddings we've been to! Yaay!
