I was talking to my mom the other day about how all the youths (yes I know I'm one) these days don't really have "Groups" so to speak. And I wanted to learn more about the social groups before, like The Romantics etc..etc..etc..

So I'm asking all the experienced people, can I have more info on this?

Well first there was the Mods then the Rockers. The Mods went on to start a website and banned everyone. The Rockers got hard and formed a Cafe - I can't remember the name of it.

Then of course there was the Jennies. They were into knitting mostly but woe be tide anyone who messed with them or their cross stitches.

Then there was the C*nts. They ran the country for most of the last century and right up until the present day actually.

What else? There was the Bogmen - who used to invade Dublin every Dec 8th.

Of course there was the Gay lads. They were a very happy bunch until the meaning of the word changed - then they were committing a crime apparently.

There was the Nancy Boy who solved mysteries in a van.

And the Borstal Boys who used to be beaten to a pulp on a daily basis.

And finally there was the Ar*eholes. I'm proud to say I come from a long line of them so I do!

I havent a clue what your on about but I'll pretend I know to better enable me to answer the question.

These groups you speak of were notorious gangs that roamed the Irish countryside worrying sheep and beating poor old badgers. Now some people will tell ya that the badgers had it coming but what about the sheep ? What harm were they doing ? If thats the sort of thing your trying to start up again then I say to hell with ya !!

One of the reasons I now live under a rock, is because there's only 1 group where I am. Turns out I don't like them, the feeling is mutual. I'm sorry but I'll not sacrifice my beliefs to be a member of a group. And it's not really a group.. And I've yet to see One Hipster or Goth. It's all Techno/Rave/whatever people now. Sucks... But, thanks anyway..

There's emos, chavs, hipsters, scene kids(possibly the same as emos), skaters, still rockers/metal heads knocking around, still a few punks, goths.

You totally forgot to mention the Jackeen bastárds group. These saw themselves as the polar opposite to the Bogmen. Note the use of the past tense to describe these Jackeens. This is because they were really a mytical/delusionary group, since Jackeens usually emanated from the loins of Bogmen parents.

He's asking for groups of the past, subcultures, not today. Mods, rockers, the new romantics (Who were basically modern dandies), old school goths who had more in common with punk than anything else, punks (Who you could fill an entire book on with their spin-offs), teddy boys (Think Grease, or the Fonz), yuppies. Can't think of any more right now. The vast majority centred around a particular type of music, with the exception on the list being yuppies who were just tools.

Do The Children of Mary count? They had a dress code, hung around in groups and wore badges. And they were always threatening violence (on Satan).

Emo's became scene kids when the whole thing hit the commercial jack pot.

I still call some hipsters scene kids because that's what they graduated to.

(I had scream kids down... that'd be a cool movement.)

Violent scumbags are like people who refuse to hurt trees?
