Ok , so basically yesterday i ordered a Kalashnikov AK-47 from hobbyairsoft.ie. Today i recieved a call saying it was out of stock and that they would give me 5k free bb's and a M4A1 for the same price as the ak-47.
But , if you look on the website: http://www.hobbyairsoft.ie/products.php?cmd=sublist&cat=02&subcat=24&airsoft=Rifles---Budget-Items
The only M4A1 in stock is a 90 Euro AEG? Are they just slow at changing the stock's on the website or are they giving me a gun for way more?

The hobbyairsoft.ie website is defunct, their active website is hobbyairsofter.com

Don't ask me why the hell the old site is still up, or they haven't even put a sign up on it to tell you it's out of date.

Keeping websites up to date seems to be a bit of an Achilles Heel with airsoft retailers. You're usually best phoning or dropping into the shop to get up-to-date information.

Having previously worked for hobbyairsoft, I can tell u that old site was a royal pain in the bum. We frequently had to offer an upgrade on purchases because an item was out if stock, or offer money back. Either way, your being offered a slightly better rifle than the one you ordered.

    Far from defunct mate!
    Does about 100k a year.
Specifically for plinkers and does a lot of business.
However we do have a problem with it, in that we don't have access to the back office, which means we have to update the site through a third party. This means delays and increased costs, however the site is too busy to close down.
Yes we started a new site which we update regularly and we do a lot of business with skirmishers and collectors, however our little plinker website outsells it.
So for the moment we operate 2 websites which on the whole operate reasonably well.

Fair enough Ricka, I may not have quite understood what I was told in the Rathcoole shop :)

I still think it'd be a great idea to get some sort of banner or link on the older plinker site to redirect airsoft hobbyists to the new site. I realise you've got problems updating it and so on, but it's still the one that's heavily linked to and shows up first on searches.

    Best of luck!

Yeah, fair point. We've spent quite a bit of money recently on the SEO of the new site so we hope to be page one shortly with the search engines, however it does take time.
The real problem is when you get complicated with your website, you can drive away the majority of potential buyers(plinkers) so its a difficult one.You want the site and your business to progress however sometimes the more complex you get, the more noobs and plinkers you drive away.
Anyway we'll see what happens once the new site gets up the rankings, maybe then we can lose the other, but untill then we'll continue to confuse:)

Sorry to go off topic, but if you have access to the domain name, you should be able to tell the third party to set up a redirect system so that if I type in Hobbyairsoft.ie, I will automatically go to the new site. That would mean the 100k users would still be there, but just on the new site

Thanks for that, good idea. However this may not exactly have the desired effect you might think. The simplicity of the other site appeals to plinkers and to be honest I think they get either bored or confused by the new site.
Might try it all the same and see what happens. Thanks again
