    People always say you cant judge a book by its cover, and while I think its true, I think a nice cover is something that adds to the book.

    So, post your favourite book cover

    Perhaps this, but the cover is silver glittery stuff glued on a black background and it fell off as I read it so now it's not black and silver anymore.

    OK, so not really. But you all need to see that blog.

    For a favourite? I'll be obvious and go for a Penguin. This is the only book I bought just because of the cover, already owning it and all. Gorgeous.

    The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd (hardback version)
    Kidd used every trick he knows to make this cover special.

    I bought this book originally mainly because I liked the cover, and actually I didn't like the book, but it's still a great cover.

    Took so long to read this that I got to like this painting by the end of the book. I got a poster of it and had it up on the wall for a while a couple of years after :)

    The Amber Spyglass (adult edition):

    51F1Le6T%2B-L.jpg

    Uses an amazing Nicholas Roerich painting (I have the print!) that echos some of the themes in the book.

    Big version here. :)

    I love this edition, but I think it went against Salinger's own wishes of never having an image on any of his books.

    I think the william Gibson Neuromancer paperbacks had quite tacky covers but they grow on you over time ;
