I took out the insurance thru the school, 24 hr cover and sooooo glad i did!!! My son was messing with a friend when he got a bang in the mouth. So far no probs!

Few weeks later his 2 front teeth started to go black, off to dentist and told he needed 2 root canals, €1200.

Had them done and someone mentioned to me about the school insurance, rang them and 2 weeks later I got a cheque in the post for the full amount!!

Why- for when your child causes an injury to themselves eg sprained ankle at lunch, can get doctors bills back etc when school is not liable. Everyone should have it. Unless expensive, easier to do it through the school

I think you can only choose the town on the dropdown box. If your town is not listed, maybe you could send them an email?

It gives me the county on a dropdown box and its no problem but we dont even live in a town but the drop down box comes up and it will not let me fill it in,not even sure if the insurance is even available any more.

Maybe you can choose the nearest town to you? Or call/email them to be sure?

Here is the chill insurance details:
    Accidental Bodily Injury resulting in:
    Category A

    Death:
    €7,500

    Permanent Total Disablement:
    €100,000

Loss of one limb or loss of sight in one eye:
    €100,000

Loss of more than one limb; or Loss of sight in both Eyes; or Loss of one Limb and Loss of One Eye:
    €100,000

Loss of Hearing in both ears:
    €100,000

Loss of Hearing in one ear:
    €30,000

    Loss of Speech:
    €100,000

Medical Expenses following Accidental Bodily Injury.
    Excess: €50
    Up to €25,000

Dental Expenses following Accidental Bodily Injury.
    Excess: €50
    Up to €25,000

Hospital Confinement (per day = 24 hour period)
€20 per day up to a maximum of 90 days

TheMaximum Limitunder Items 1 to 6 for any oneAccident:
    €100,000

Comparing Allianz which is who my kids schools use its much the same but there is no excess. This is a fairly important difference though as if 1 GP or hospital visit is needed. You could get it all back with Allianz and only cost - 50 with chill. With my accident prone kids I think Allianz is worth getting.

The Allianz insurance is €5.60 for 24hr cover when booked online. See here for Allianz details.

You pay €8. Allianz give school 30% back (€2.40).
