Just to let you know - there's a new bike/triathlon shop, TriBikes, in Limerick. It's only open a week or so by the looks of it but has a pretty nice selection of bikes, accessories and tri gear (although I didn't spend long looking at that latter group :) )

There's a discount with a Cycling Ireland or Triathlon Ireland membership card (except on bikes) - just ask at the counter.

http://www.tribikes.ie/ (also has a shop in Loughrea)
Raheen roundabout, across from the South Court Hotel and beside Casey's Furniture.

The new store in Raheen is fantastic. In a bizarre series of events I today ended up replacing a spiuk helmet bought from the bike shop on O'Connell street in the new raheen store for a brand new one. Long story but the bike shop were messing around trying to find a replacement part that was never going to fix the helmet. The rep I was put in touch with told me to go to tribikes. Mark there took one look at the helmet and told me to pick out a replacement and he'd sort it out with the rep. Got the top of the range Spiuk with value of 140 for the 30 euro difference in price. I've found myself a new bike shop! Also, the range of bikes is very good. Beautiful Bianchi and Felt road bikes. I can't be trusted with a credit card in the place.

Strongly recommend tribikes for outstanding customer service.

Final word, top part bikes in Smithstown Shannon are excellent to deal with aswell. Finally a bit of choice in the booming Market!

Get on the Dublin - Limerick motorway and follow the ring road around Limerick until you see the Cork exit. Head towards Cork and take the second exit on that road (about 4km along that road) signposted Raheen Industrial estate. At the 2 round-about after taking the exit take a right and it's along that road. Very easy to access. It's alongside Caseys furniture and opposite the south court. You won't be disappointed. Let us know how you get on.

I got my first road bike a few weeks ago from TriBikes in Limerick. I think they can definitely help you out - great range of bikes in stocks in various price brackets. I did the rounds of bike shops in Clare and Limerick and they were fantastic.

Since my original post re having got a replacement helmet from Tribikes I've upgraded my bike with them. As has been said by others they have a great range of bikes including the Irish Turas brand www.turasbikes.ie.

I bought a RR1.0 with ultegra in November and LOVE it. Fitting service and aftersale service are outstanding. I can't say enough good things about the place.

Pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed.

struggled to keep my hands out of my pocket in there, great staff, learned a lot from one of them. very helpful unlike a few LBSs i could mention!

Just went into this shop this evening and really impressed with range of gear and prices. Similar to CRC I thought price wise on things and cheaper in some instances. Just got some Mucoff degreaser and spray for €15. Was looking at the cycling wear and much more affordable than any of the shops in Dublin but of same quality. Love Cycleways but the Campag gear there is way too expensive.

Savage selection of bikes. Good size shop. Not massive but not poky withstand staff seem friendly. Great to have a top class bike shop in the Limerick/Munster region. Website is up and coming according to Alan in there but the number is 061484923 (it's not up on existing website yet). Mods: Not sure if I'm allowed post phone numbers so apologies if I've done wrong.

Have to say that I disagree about this store. A mate of mine recommended that I go there. Really impressive selection of bikes.

However the prices for consumables were absolutely nuts. IIRC it was over 50 notes for a Conti GP4000sz
Inner tubes were €7-8 whereas I normally pay about €4 to €4.50.

Couldn't get tyre levers and a member of staff didn't know where they were.

Nice shop, great bike selection, plenty of parking. But some prices were simply a rip off IMHO.

I apologise about your bad experience in our store. We try to keep our prices as close as possible to online retail in most instances this is the case. I would appreciate any other feedback you may have to try and help improve our service.

I bought my first roadbike at Tribikes last week and agree that the service there is great. The guys I dealt with were really nice, not at all pushy, and very patient. They spent time going through the pros and cons of a few different bikes until i finally found the one I love. Also bought some clothing there and the prices were pretty much the same as the big online retailers. Will def be back.

Well I got my bike serviced here ..not a good experience , mechanic rude (Gary) did stuff to bike that I did not want done when I said this all I got was well it needed to be done.. Well I not sure why ???but I paid and left should have complained.. And had to bring it to another shop a few days later to fix what tri bikes should have done , well my bike is now running like a dream thanks to a mechanic that knows his job ,, won't be back to tri bikes , I am sticking to my local shop in future

Garys a good mechanic (did some of my bikes at an older store he worked at) I couldn't imagine him straying you wrong Charles. What bike shop did you go to after?

couldn't recommend this place, my friend got a bike off them on the back to work scheme and almost every crucial bolt on it was loose, brakes poorly adjusted, gear indexes all badly calibrated. the left crank arm worked loose after 2.5 kms of its first cycle and and they had the cheek to say he'd have to pay for a new one now that the square hole is damaged.
they were very pushy on the sales side, zero interest once the bike left the premises

I've never expected the bike to be 100% ready from the shop. Quite sure if to build the bike yourself, you may find you've left things out, or something needs adjustment during 1st ride or even few. I've got the bike from this shop and did have to adjust things here and there, but guys at the shop were always welcoming for any adjustment I required or advice FOC.

Maybe the only thing I don't like is that they never use a torque wrench, but I haven't seen a shop which does, so can't blame :D

Doesn't sound like their style dude, has to be a one-off or some mix-up.

I would think that that is a perfectly reasonable expectation to have after spending close to 700 euro.

edit: This wasnt 'not ready' it was poorly assembled. clearly nothing was torqued down to spec. the derailleur limit screws hadn't been set front or back, the front derailleur was loose on the seatpost. the gear indexing had been set poorly so the chain rubbed on the front in the highest gear and couldn't get into the lowest gear on the back.
pretty basic stuff in terms of bike assembly, shows a pretty sloppy standard to let the bike out the door like that.

That's pretty unusual for tribikes. What did the guys say when you contacted them about the situation?
I've had plenty of dealings with this shop, and I don't hesitate to recommend them to my friends and acquaintances.

I've no involvement with the shop other than being a regular customer.

Just to update that he took it back again and talked to a different guy and they sorted it out under warranty and apologised for the hassle, so credit to them there.
