What about the choice between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf at #1 in the '98 draft?

    A real toughie there...

Beck has played well in pre-season in fairness!!

14/17 for 140 yds against the Colts is hardly disastrous stuff!!

To be fair, you and I could pass for those numbers against the Colts in preseason! :o

Well thats just it. Beck might be a serviceable enough NFL quarterback. no one heere can be too sure about him

We all know what the other two can do (ie not much)

Report: No One Over 13 Wants To Play QB For Redskins
    AUGUST 22, 2011 |

ASHBURN, VA—Though the Washington Redskins are currently attempting to decide on their starting quarterback, no person older than the age of 13 has shown any enthusiasm about the position, team sources confirmed Sunday. “We had one ninth-grader come in, but he wouldn’t play here unless we got him a serious receiving threat,” said head coach Mike Shanahan, staring warily as an overweight 10-year-old girl attempted to throw a five-yard out to Santana Moss. “The problem we have here is that the only people in camp that are really excited about leading this team can’t see over the offensive line, can only throw underhanded, and trip over their jerseys.” The Redskins’ quarterback situation further deteriorated Sunday evening, when owner Daniel Snyder offered to trade Grossman and a third-round pick to a local Pop Warner team in exchange for their backup quarterback and cash.

Funnily enough while the skins will be terrible this year then will be the ones laughing next year when they are in a position to draft a top QB. Skipping over the QB's in last years class was a very smart move while dropping down and acquiring various extra picks in the process was very well done by Shanahan.

When I read the thread/poll title I defo thought I'd be going for Walsh V Montana.

The problem is there seems to be a big drop off in quality for the QB class of 2012 after AL. Take him out of the equation and the class of 2012 isn't any better than 2011 ... maybe even worse. But there's still another season of college football to be played to get a little better idea. But at the moment this scenario only looks good if the Redskins are the worst of the worst and get the top pick or they trade away value to move up for that pick.

    Eh, what!?

Matt Barkley and Landry Jones are sensational prospects from pro-friendly college systems and are lightyears ahead of any QB from the 2011 class.

They are? Barkley and Jones look far from a Bradford, Ryan, or Stafford at this point. There's a sizable gap between them and Luck. I haven't seen anything from either that clearly elevates them "light years" above Newton, Gabbert, Kaepernick, Dalton, etc. MB has been a bit erratic and injury prone. It would help if he ups his performance on the field and at least puts up numbers in parity with the above. So far his production doesn't meet the hype some of which he brought with him to USC before he ever played a down. Landry I believe is a better prospect but he doesn't have quite the skill set that Bradford had, namely the great accuracy. Also, whilst Barkley is a good bet to leave next year some have speculated that Jones will play another year at OU. We'll have to see how things play out this season in college football.

While pretty much everyone at USC regressed last year in the fallout of their NCAA sanctions, Barkley actually improved. He had 63% completion ratio, threw 2 less interceptions in comparison to 11 more touchdowns and was closing in on 3000 yards. There's no reason to believe he won't improve on that, he should continue to get better. He has exactly what you want in a QB, as cool in the pocket as any other college QB and a great leader. He's a stud, a far better pro prospect than anyone in the draft gone by - safe as houses.

Landry Jones has made Oklahoma forget about Bradford because he's a fantastic QB in his own right. Perfect physical specimen for the position at 6'4 and 220, big arm, reads defences, scary accuracy. He had 65% completion last year, nearly 5000 yards and 38 touchdowns. And he'll probably improve on that this year too, and as a national championship contender (and a Heisman candidate himself) his stock will soar. I would not be at all surprised if all three QBs (Luck, Barkley + Jones) went top 5-8. It's open to opinion just how good this class is, but weak? Wow, not in a million years and definitely not weaker than the '11 class, no way.

After tonight, Grossman is a lock for starter. Beck blew it.

And Grossman was good. I really think Grossman can succeed in a good team, good rex/bad rex is his downfall but he'll win on a good team. Beck seems hopeless.

Andy Dalton had his first half-decent performance of his career but the defense was awful.

Grossman is a poor mans Brett Favre. Only difference is Favre could throw a decent short pass. Grossman has all the gun slinging Favre had but he cant throw short especially those tight short passes. He was incosistent as fook and carries far too many injuries including that leg injury. You would need a coach that will be in his ear all the time to stop him looking to throw long all of the time. Ever play Madden and you just want to throw deep balls all day? That is Grossman.

If there was any doubt, looks like Grossman will definitely be the starter after Becks performance last night
