2nd permit and new regs

so I got my first permit under the old regs but due to lack of money I've been without insurance for 18 months and just got insured now on the family car. Obviously not ready to do test, but have taken 10 lessons with a proper instructor about 6 months ago and am getting experience with mum in the passenger seat.

Permit runs out in October and obviously I won't be ready for the test by then, so will have to renew the permit. Just wondering though, do the new regulations about logging hours with an instructor apply? If they do, can I just get my former instructor to sign off that I did lessons?

EDIT: just noticed the FAQs sorry :o Guess I don't need to meet the new regs then?

Nope, you're grand, the new regulations only apply to those who received their FIRST permit after 4th of April.
