You don't need a license. From Sept. 1st its open season so your firearms license allows you to hunt. Once you get the firearms license you're good to go.

It can take from 7 days to 7 months + for your first license to come through,

Then it can take from 7 days to 7 months + for your second/third/fourth.......... license to come through. I wouldn't hold out for you getting out shooting for the 1st.:(

it can often take so long just due to lazyness of the people in charge (wont mention who)... but i would say you will be waiting a long time...

it took me nine months and as u can guess i was fuming. i called to the garda station every week after a few months had gone by and still nothing. the last time i called i gave them a mouthfull and in three days i had my licence. so my advice would be just keep at them and just call in every now and again. i know it took me nine months but i bet it would have took even longer if i wasnt at them every week... best of luck

it all depends on your super i got mine in five weeks and it was my first so give them a ring and i thought after three months you should have an answer

I had my first license in my hand two weeks to the day that I applied for it. I think it depends on the area your in too, I'm in the country so not as much crime therefore the supers have more time on their hands, but thats just a theory might not be the case at all. Hope you get yours soon!

After all the time I waited for different license I wouldn't let time slipe by any more.

Go and find out what the holdup is, phone the Super's secretary, call in to your FO.

Make noise, it wont take longer but you may get it quicker.

I applied for my license around the same time the Queen and Barak Obama were around, as I'm in Cork I said I'd give them a chance to sort the license out because they were up the walls with all their extra duties.

Thinking back now I should have called into them after the first week; because I'm pretty sure they made a balls of issuing the license, I had to ring them to find out if it was issued or not and it had been, I hadn't received any notifications from them whatsoever.
