Hi, I have been a permanent employee within my company for less than a year, can someone tell me if I can give a week notice regardless the initial contract says I am entitled to give a month notice? Will it be graceless if I give a week notice, will it be normal if I could not receive a work reference because of short notice?

Entirely up to you but given that you are required to give a months notice it is possible that there may be consequences if you quit after 1 weeks notice.
Perhaps a co-worker could advise you better ?

Let me get this straight. You have an employment contract which states a one month notice period. You want to renege on this contract and are willing to forfeit a reference from your employer to do so. Have you won the lottery? Are you leaving the country? If you are planning to stay here and continue working I would suggest that this is a bad idea and that you should work out your full notice unless you can convince your employer to let you go early.
