Hi, I have one of these. The issue is that when bbs are fired through it they don't illuminate. When I drop one through it illuminates. I've tried everything, checked wires and solder, everything seems fine, there are two vision cells, one dark one light which seem to be the trigger but they won't work when fired, just when dropped through.

I've new batteries in it and the barrel of my aeg doesn't protrude past the thread which I know can cause issues.

stupid question are they the right BB's :P also it could be that the BB's are traveling through the supressor too fast try it on semi.

It sounds like it could be that the BB is moving too fast for the sensor to flash, thus not illuminating the BB. Or that the sensor flashes, but does not offer enough exposure to the fast-moving BB.

The dropped-in BB will move slower, and get a greater degree of light from the strobe, which is why it works by hand.

I could be wrong on that, and probably am...but hey :)

I'm using blaster tracer bbs, I don't think its a speed thing, the same problem on different guns.

yeah but they'll would all be travelling at roughly the same speed, you try semi yet? also if you have an springers hold the tracer infront of of one of them and try it. try new batteries?

Springer had same result, as does flicking them through.

I think its a setup inside.

in same result you mean, working or not working?

    Not working.

hmm very strange, you try it with a mates AEG? you could try leaving the BB's under a light source for a while, I'm pretty sure that's how they work, just glow in the dark BB's but abosrb the light in the tracer extremely fast giving it the tracer affect.

Thanks for the help t4target, but the bbs are fine, the silencer isnt flashing them at all. Only when dropped through. I've tried it on 3 different aegs.

Maybe Its Just A Rubbish Tracer Or A Bad Batch From The Manufacturer ? :p

might be the case but the fact that it's charging them when dropped througha dn not fired is highly odd...

It's not odd at all, Inari hit the nail on the head, it's the the tracer. There's a big difference between dropping a BB and hitting one at 328fps... the strobe it's going off in time or maybe not at all.

What you can try... with out shooting yourself or someone else... is fire it beside a mirror or if you can get some one to watch the end of the tracer while firing and see if it flashes, then you'll at least know if the strobe goes off.

Don't look down the barrel and then fire please!!! Watch it from the side at a distance.

have to agree with phyro on this one, massive difference in speed between a drop and an aeg, it could just be a bad model that is not sensitive enough for say anything traveling over 100fps for example ( random number picked out of the air ) the sensors i would imagine are just not sensitive enough

I'd have to agree with the last couple of posts, the sensors aren't activating on firing and are therefore faulty/out of spec. Did the silencer ever work? If yes has it been dropped or suffered an impact since the last time it worked?

If it's new I would bring it back to the retailer you got it from. If it's not new and you're handy with electronics I would open it up and check that the sensors are correctly aligned, dry joints, obstructions on the sensors, all the usual stuff. If you're not familiar with electronics please watch out when handling the internals, a charged capacitor can give quite a jolt!

Thanks for the help folks, its a common enough silencer and as I posted originally its not flashing at all when fired through but is for dropped ones. I'll have a play around with the internal alignment and see if that works.
