Hi guys. I'm having issues with my toshiba satellite. When I leave the display alone for a period of time, about five horizontal columns of lines appear. When I do anything say open itunes(in full screen) the lines of columns disappear. Any ideas? Im going un-install the display driver now to see if that helps the issue.

Sounds like the LCD has some dodgy pixels, Stuck pixels possibly? Try udpix and see if it unsticks them

Ahh looks like Nvidia card syndrome, do you have a Nvidia 8xxx series video card? If so the problem is due to overheating video card, there are temporary fixes, but as it is a known problem your probably better off getting a new machine :( Sorry to say man but no matter how many fixes/motherboard changes if it still has a 8xxx series card its a ticking time bomb

    Nick

Edit: Just to add the problem will probably get so bad the machine will be come unusable

Nice one man, might be hope so :) Any Nivida displays I've seen go awol look like that, try complete driver uninstall, and reinstall see if it fixes things, sometimes windows update can pull down & install dodgy drivers, so it could well be a software issue. Make sure the usual when using the machine vents arn't being blocked etc. I know it sounds stupid but one of my m8s laptops kept freezing, blue screening. Trying to pin point the issue over team viewer was difficult. He used a bed mattress to place down his laptop :rolleyes:
