I'm just after collecting this having bought it over the net without even viewing it :eek:. It turns out that any worries were unfounded as it's as clean as it looks in the pics. I'd been on the lookout for a decent,reliable car to last me 6mths to a year,with leather,aircon,cruise,alloys,low-ish mileage,NCT,year 2000+,sub 3lt petrol for ~€1k....and this has all of the above ..and more! I'm chuffed!:D

Thats very very respectable bangernomics. With that mileage, its a hell of a car.
Was worth the gamble on the deposit IMO specially having weighted up the owner on the phone etc.

Looks like you got great value for money, I looked at a couple of Omegas last year when I was changing, but the ones I saw were ropey and not as well specced as yours. They were pre-facelift too.

Nope..I mean that there was no issues in the last NCT test, but I'll need 2 front tyres for the next test (worn evenly across the width of the tyre).
Timing belt,tensioners and water pump were done at 46k and it's not due a service for another 5k. I'm gonna order some diagnostic equipment too...might be handy to have. I've already picked up a copy of the Haynes manual and the service manuals on DVD.

Edit: I must say, I'm finding it incredibly comfortable (in comparison to my E46 320D se) and surprisingly frugal too (even with aircon running).

In fairness,the E46 has a much,much more capable chassis...but the Omega is a lot more comfortable and a lot more wallowy (?) in the corners.

The boot switch is a bit of an oddity! The car mustn't be running and the key must be out of the ignition in order to allow the switch to open the boot!:P

Luckily...there's a relatively simple surgical fix for this!:D

Lots of them available online for small money on ebay and here for example if you wanted one.

On some of these cars around that age if you press and hold the boot release button for about 4 or 5 seconds it will pop the boot. It does not work on them all though and it can get very annoying having to turn the car off every time you want to open the boot.

Having owned a few of these cars over the years I know how comfortable they can be so enjoy!

There's a red wire down in the driver's footwell that,when snipped, will negate the need to remove the ignition key in order to open the boot.
