    Hello,

Does anyone know how or where to get a stove reg plate, other than through an installer?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    You generally make them.

First off use 4 pieces of angle iron or alluminium angle iron to form a horizontal support to fit the sheet steel to all around the chimney walls above the lintel. for the steel sheet you can use 2 or 3mm steel, alluminium or galvanised steel. Cut it to size using a jigsaw with a metal blade or use large tinsnips or an angle grinder with metal disk. For ease of the flue hole you could fit the sheet steel plate in two pieces but cut a semi circle in each piece and fit it so it overlaps. Use self tapping screws to fix the steel to the L shaped angle iron. If your stoves chimney is unlined provide a lift up hatch to get to the chimney to clean it. Fill any gaps with fire cement around the angle iron frame and brickwork. Also seal any gaps between the sheet steel and angle iron and flue pipe. (where the sheet steel rests on the angle iron)

It's not a big job but fiddly.

You could try your local hardware/ builders providers or B&Q for the materials.

    Good luck:)

    Thanks Stove Fan!
Hopefully we'll manage it ourselves as it seems like it'll cost a lot to get a fitter to do it all
