Nexus tablet will be revealed in a few weeks. Apparently Google are aiming for a 7 inch quad core for about 200

    For 200 euro?

    Class!

Rumours of apple bringing out a 7inch device in August also.

Not even sure what size I want yet. Only had the ipad 2 in my hands so far.

I've another thread about this on another site and there's almost 2 many things to consider with Android vs iOS.

I'm going to have to make a pros and cons list me thinks.

I've spent a lot of time with most tablets out there and for me there really is only one option if price is not a factor and thats the iPad 3 or iPad 2 if you want a cheaper option(think the iPad 2 is 399 these days for basic model).

Will be interesting to see this new Nexus tab though.

I contacted the modder and asked for the details as he does sell them. 430 Euro inc delivery and he'll make you one (you can pick any game and he will make it in that theme).

I think I'll skip it as for parts alone it must be less than 100 euro and that includes an N64 and screen.

Met up with my friend from america and the owner of HG101 last night and they took me on a tour of all the best videogame places in New York. Seems to be a bit of Rage syndrome going on, as the guys said it's great to browse but you won't be getting any bargains, the owners know exactly what they have. Anyway went drinking with them afterwards and had a great laugh, even my mate that isn't into games had a blast.

Damn, no $5 Snes'z going yet no? :( Ah well, at least your drinking in a place other than negative land

Nope, they're probably more than you'd pay on ebay.

Bugger, but you'd save on the shipping,
that is DHL or UPS Vs Hiding in the suitcase underneath Retr0's dirty drawers all the way home!
Might need more than a Peroxide solution and a UV lamp to get them stains out!#
"Hey Retr0, is this console yellowed due to age?"
"Erm... yeah, sure age, that's what it is...."

Now, why the hell can't I paint things like that????
That's all sorts of Awesome right there!

Is that meant to be a more power conservative Gameboy in the foreground?
If so there should be at least 2 AA's in his arms!

As much as I tend to hate 'fan art' (usually panel comic strips with a far too high word count)... that is ****ing awesome.

I'm after buying a Super Famicom for just over 50 quid from japan.

On the minus side, I've a splitting headache and struggling to find out if I can play PAL games on it.

Just keeping finding threads in google which are making my headache worse, and can't get a clear answer!

Can anyone take me out of my misery and tell me if PAL games will run from the get go?

Do I need an adapter to play the PAL games?

From what I've seen earlier today, the PAL and JAP games are the same size,
not sure if they have a different socket though!

    Thanks!

They'll physically fit, but any locked games won't run as they'll detect the NTSC CIC chip & that its running at 60hz.

I modded o1s1n's Super Famicom, he can tell you how compatible it is with PAL games :)

Went digging a little. Found the painter's name in a Kotaku article: Kwanchai Moriya. This is an acrylic on wood panel painting. Its on sale (along with other stuff and stuff by other artists) at the moment for $400 (USD) on giantrobot. No fan artist here.

I don't know if there will also be print reproductions sold of it, said Kotaku article says there are for some of 'em. I certainly hope so.

    Nice one dude!

Thats the kind of information i was seeking to no avail avec le googlies.

Found an old post of Oisín's actually saying the graphics were glitched in Mario Kart, and another game wouldnt play.

I think I'll have to order a few SFC DSP1 games so.

Ah sorry man, I read that as you just got a Famicom which I don't have, didn't realize you got a Super Famicom!

My modded one runs most PAL games, but some give timing issues. So you'd need to buy 60hz versions of them. From memory, the ones I had problems with were Mario Kart, Starfox and Super Mario World.

You could play Marioworld, it wasn't game breaking. The other two were though.

It sure beats using an ugly 60hz American Snes though, no matter how nice Enternow says they look :pac:

Edit - the timing issues is different to the region locks - quite a lot of them are locked. So you'd need to do a region mod on it to get around that.

It's a thing of beauty the American Snes is!

I think it's the purple colouring which offends me most. I love the bright Snes controller buttons and branding against the grey of the unit itself - the purple of the NTSC version on the other hand just looks bland and lifeless in comparison.

Maybe if they retained some of those colours it wouldnt make my eyes bleed so much.

Probably a question for SteveSI, but, are SSD's cheap in Japan?

It's not something I'd normally be looking at over there. SSD prices have dropped a bit on Amazon which is where I get them from(I've a few).

The below model drive is a great little performer and the smaller capacity version is quite cheap if you can live with 128GB. I've the 256GB version as my main boot drive on the monster pc and then a couple of other SSD's and then many TB of regular internal drives.

    512GB:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT512M4SSD2-512GB-M4-SSD/dp/B004W2JL3Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339580476&sr=8-1

    256GB:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT256M4SSD2-256GB-M4-SSD/dp/B004W2JL2A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339580338&sr=8-1

    128GB
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT128M4SSD2-128GB-M4-SSD/dp/B004W2JKZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339580317&sr=8-1

Just make sure to upgrade the SSD firmware before you start using them as it makes a massive difference on some of the drives.

Cheers good knave! Keen to replace my laptop SATA drive with an SSD. Maybe put together an SSD NAS too?

An SSD NAS would be nice but if you want some actual bulk storage you may need to look at regular or hybrid drives.
The SSD is one of the best upgrades you can do on a PC or Laptop as the performance increase is really great.
