Great price for the Play alright. Irish Carriers are still charging over €400 for it on PAYG.

So any chance we can get back to the OP's phone?

I know some people that might be interested in this deal but its hard to get a good review of the Acer phone. Anyone know how the liquid metal phone stands up to the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S?

Don't have time for modding really, just want to read what I'm interested in.
Sorry if I was too harsh.

Looks to me like a good deal, just not as good a deal as the Sony Ericsson Xperia play that was on offer last week. This looks like an average phone with a good price. Review here

did anybody get it ?? 164 euros looks pretty good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 999 ✭✭✭arrianalexander

ya thinking of getting it... i was thinking of the sony ray but it was way above what i needed

all i use my phone for is txtin/ txtin through apps so need internet connection on / phones calls and odd bit of browsing nothing major...

the europa i have now is ok but battery is a joke.. i know andriods arent great for battery but the acer does seem to have a better battery life...

pity the reviews are limited and the ones out there only seem to cover 2.2 verison not the one with the 2.3

I bought from Expansys, took a while to get it !
    plusses
    V nice Interface Acer Breeze
    v recent ver of Andriod ;
    236
    Screen size good
    responsive 800 mhz proc
come with case for your phone, stops it getting scratched in pocket
Dolby , so sound : radio, music etc, excellent, using headphones
Notifacation lights on top of phone, v handy

    minuses
    no gorilla glass
limited internal storage, you have to be careful, not to download too many apps/updates, app2sd, will help somewhat

    Would reccomend

    Thanks for that.
Do you, or does anyone know, if it will play flash well ? Rte player for example ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,185 ✭✭✭k123456

    Will check iplayer later

it does come with adobe flash v 10.3 pre installed, plays youtube vids fine,
Unless you have lots of space to play around with on phone (I dont at this stage, dont download any updates for flash, approx 10mb in size)

Its a good price for an ok phone. the lack of ram in it though does scare me a bit, I had a wildfire and while that had more ram, after a while I had to delete some items. * apps2sd didnt work because some of fluff files that come with the phone ended up being too big. if you are going to root it, and are competent about rooting it go ahead.
you could try those phones in tcpw that were listed here around a week ago.

how did you find the battery life to be ?

i have the europa at moment and find it touch and go..

also i had a look online looking for a back up battery..didnt seem to find anywhere? for the liquid i mean

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,185 ✭✭✭k123456

Battery life good, bear in mind a bigger screen will use a bit more battery than a smaller screen

This is my third Android smartphone, v happy with it
