VEC Grant problem

I was sent out a Renewal Form by the VEC over two months ago. I filled it out and sent it back within days.

For the last two years I was sent out a letter stating that they had received my form and supporting documentation. However this year I have heard nothing back.

I tried contacting them but they would not confirm if they had received my Renewal Form. I also haven't received anything to say how much of a grant I am getting if any.

I know the closing date is coming up soon so I would like some advice. Should I contact them again or just wait and see if something comes in the post?

Hi mustang shelly, the closing date is always extended, and late applications are taken until early next year. The reason they put a closing date is to get the bulk majority of applications in and processed as soon as possible. It also gives the government a rough idea of the number of students applying for a college grant. So you dont really need to worry about this.

If you sent off the renewal form, then 99% chance it has arrived and is in the queue for processing. Dont forget, they get thousands upon thousands of applications and its first come first serve basis.

Since its a renewal form, as long as nothing has changed financial wise on your application, then you can safely assume you will get the same level of grant that you received last year, as long as you still meet the requirements which have slightly changed this year.

You can read about the changes here.

There have been some changes this year with grant applications, and the majority of workload has been shifted to an online application facility, so its possible that there is just a delay in processing the main bulk, and your application will be dealt with in due time.
