Stairs Handrail Height

    Hi Guys,
    Quick one for opinions.
My stairs is currently being installed. I know Park K regs say handrails should be between 840-900mm. The handrail around my landing upstairs has been placed at 1100mm, I think it looks a bit high but can see the point of the carpenter who thinks its a safer option. I'm hedging towards lowering it to maybe 1000mm, any thoughts? There are no spindles in yet so other than a bit of cosmetic repairs to the posts where the handrails are currently attached, it shouldnt be too big a deal.
    Thanks,
    Clint

BS 6399 Part 1 states that guarding in residential/domestic landings should be 900mm high

Part K specifies that for a "single family dwelling" the guarding on a landing must be min 900mm. If, however, your certifying engineer/architect deems that the guarding in this location is more appropriately categorised as for a floor, balcony or roof then you wont have much comeback by saying that someone on the internet told you it was ok.

Talk to the person certifying the build as they will be the ones seeing the stairs in-situ as opposed to us that just get a brief written description of whats happening:D
