Northern Ireland Sale of Goods Act

Anyone have experience of exercising rights uder the 1979 Sales of Goods act in the UK from the Republic ?

    Do you have rights ?

I purchased a sofa in Belfast and believe it is not fit for purpose as the cushions throw you back and you are looking at the ceiling - not the TV. The company has come down twice but just keep saying - 'that is how it was designed'

I have a photo which I took in the showroom on the day I purchased it and my wife, while seating, was most definitely not looking at the ceiling.

I believe a simple resolution would be more filling in the cushion or a supporting band across the base but the company tell me it is designed that way and refuse to entertain.

Do I have any rights as a republic citizen ?

Are they obliged to repair or refund ?

Is there an equivalent of the Small Claims Court in the North - as I dont have the funds for a full blown case over a 2K sofa.

Would I be liable for thier costs if I lose...?

    Any help appreciated....
