How on earth do I get there??

My daughter has got her place at Plymouth Uni - there are no flights on the dates she needs to go so its going to have to be fly to another airport and hire a car or public transport or get the ferry and drive. Can anyone help?

I have relatives there. I drive to Rosslare get the Ferry then its about a 5-6 hour drive the other side. Travelling on a Wednesday which is the cheapest time and booking in advance the ferry is 180euro return for one.

My wife has done the trip on the coach but you need to change a couple of times.

I had a year in Plymouth Uni too. She's a lucky girl great place.

I used to fly into Bristol airport. Get the shuttle bus to Bristol train station and get a train into Plymouth, it takes roughly 2 hours. I dunno is it still about, but I used to get the mega train, if you booked early enough you could get a great deal. You could also fly into Newquay but these flights aren't as frequent. You can then get a bus/train to Plym. Newquay is roughly an hour from Plymouth.

Bus for that part of the journey, if you've got that far by air you won't have that much luggage to drag around. Just google the smaller hops of the journey for the local bus time tables. Like http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=1699 and http://www.stagecoachbus.com/PdfUploads/Timetable_10756_X38.pdf
Plymouth has a train station and I did once do Rosslare to Plymouth by train so there's another possibility.

I used to live 10 miles east of Plymouth and whenever we flew home we went from Exeter with Flybe. The drive from where we were could be done in an hour. Add around 20minutes for going to or from Plymouth.

You won't get any flight's to Plymouth, the airport is in the process of being closed down and sold off. Bristol or Exeter I'd say.

Unknown location in Ireland to Heathrow.
Heathrow to Paddington via Heathrow Express or tube.
Paddington to Plymouth via Great Western Trains(3 and a bit hours).
