side door on extension without planning

    Hey
Neighbour is building an extension without planning. It's single story and less than 40 square metres. That's fine but I've noticed a door will be placed at the side which looks right into my garden. Is there a requirement about doors/windows needing to be opaque or not looking directly into my garden?

    Thanks

1 metre from boundary at ground floor level

I've seen that from dunlaoghaire/rathdown planning faq but it seem to refer to windows specifically.
The door is just over a metre from the boundry

Do extensions that are exempt from planning still require signing off by someone with adequate insurance? Sorry for the slightly OT question, just something I was wondering.

The idea of keeping windows a min. of 1 metre from a boundary is for privacy issues. Although not specifically referred to in the exemptions a door would be less intrusive than a window. If in doubt at all apply for a Section 5 declaration from your local Planning Authority

In a word no. However if there was a mortgage involved or if the property was being sold then a cert would be required.
