I got a G&G M4 through a trade this week, but the guy I got it from neglected to mention at the time that the hop up was fecked. Not a massive problem, but for some reason he glued the receiver locking pin shut with super glue. Anyone got any bright ideas for how to get her open??

try heating it with a lighter or use nail varnish remover

Yea I've been using a cotton bud to get acetone in around it, but I've been at it for about 3 hours and there is no sign of it budging. Good idea about heating it though, I'll give that a go

If it's a metal body you can use nail polish remover that contains acitone. I'm not sure if acitone damages nylon fibre bodied AEGs though.

super glue is very brittle glue, just try to tap the pin (use a hammer and bolt with a smaller diameter than the pin)

Ok, so far I've tried tapping it out with a nail punch and mallet ... no luck
I've tried a half a bottle of acetone, laborriously applied over about 3 hours... still no luck
Then I heated it with a lighter, over and over and over... still nothing...

Am I completely fecked or is there a 'Hail Mary' way to open this thing up??

Before you break open the receiver you could try drilling through the pin. It will destroy the pin but pins are cheaper than receivers.

Or you could try some superglue release agent. It's normally used to free up stuck fingers and should be available in major hardware stores.

    brute force!
put the gun in a vice and give it a good slap with the nail punch!
if not then complain about the crappy deal and try get the old owner to fix it.
a reason i always do face to face deals is i can check if everything works ok first.
drilling it might be your only option...
or would glue freeze maybe? so it becomes brittle and breaks away?

    Worst advice ever:rolleyes:....

Anyway similar to what Biohazard said, get down to your local hardware shop and get a bottle of adhesive remover. Soak the affected pins in it (careful as it will strip paint) and then try tap them out with a hammer and punch.

There are other more destructive methods but nothing that requires purchasing a whole new receiver;)

You should probably contact the seller of this item, and ask A) What he used to glue the receiver pins in, and B) Why.

This will give you an idea of how strong an adhesive remover/dissolving agent to use, but also should enlighten you to the reason why it was done. Could be as simple as they were ALWAYS falling out, so solution was to glue them in. But if you don't ask, you're stuck with guess-work
