does anyone know how to get round this issue?

pretty soon i will be moving into a place with the possibility of UPC or Sky, dish is already present.

i'd much prefer to go freesat, have looked at a potential box

my TV, despite being relatively newish, (2009) cannot receive saorview.

would the aerial below do the trick for saorview?

Don't know about the freesat box or aerial you linked but can you not get a saorview set-top box for your TV? Surely a 2009 TV model would work with a saorview set-top box? Check www.saorview.ie

If you are going freesat the only way to get the Irish channels is saorview.

Thanks for that, had a look around but it seems at the moment there is no credible alternitive to my existing skyhd service, if there is, prove me wrong folks....

    Hi all,

I am considering purchasing a Skybox S11 Satellite Receiver.

I understand however that in order to receive Sky 3, 5-USA, 5-Star and Channel 4 HD, that a Freesat-From-Sky Viewing Card is required.

Can anyone confirm if that card would be compatible with a non-Sky/non-Freesat branded receiver such as is, or if there is an alternative?

The reason I ask is that I've heard, for non-Freesat/Sky branded boxes using this card, that you need to insert it in to a Sky Digibox every few days to keep it 'active'.

I would be grateful for any advice/information offered.

    Regards,
    dmcdream

For list of channels and info.

For Irish stations and aerial is needed with either a Saorview set top box or a fairly current tv.

You can get a Combo box that will get both Irish and UK channels on one box with one remote. Many suppliers out there, Google it as I do not want to appear to favour of one or the other.

I have gone from UPC to Freesat, (Humax Foxsat HDR receiver) and a Saorview Digihome box. No problems or real regrets.

Miss discovery, living and one or two others, but some of the Freesat stations are showing more and more similar type programmes. Also, talk of more stations coming on line soonish.

    But beware...........it is contagious.
Am now thinking of adding another dish and trying for more channels from different satellites. It can easily turn into a hobby.......

    Hi,

Would anyone be able to recommend a good quality DiSEqC motor and LNB, suitable for a Triax 110cm dish?

If possible, could you also tell me where I might get these online?

    Many Thanks!
