I have sky tv and eircom phoneline and broadband. I want to move eircom broadband to UPC and get rid of landline which we don't use.

Do I need to keep the landline for my Sky to to work properly? It was installed 6 months ago and is fed through cable into the house from Satellite dish.

I don't have or want multi-room viewing and I don't use sky interactive.

    Thanks.

For Sky you only need a landline for the box office or if you have multiroom. So I would say you're OK to get rid of the Eircom landline.

Thanks for this information: just to make sure, I guess I don't need the landline for sky plus?

No you don't need the landline for Sky Plus. There are two cables that run from your dish to the Sky box that allow you to use Sky + i.e. record 2 programmes at the same time.

You said in your first post:-

There should only be 2 cables running from your dish to your box for Sky+. Your telephone line that connects to the box should be a seperate cable - doesn't connect to dish (well it is in my setup).

It will work, you just need to change where it's plugged into the UPC modem and use a different port.I think there's a thread discussing how to do it,fairly simple to do.
