I've got some stuff heading to the dump or freecycle - any use to anyone here? Note - this stuff is really only of interest to anoraks - it will not help you receive ESPN, Freeview on Astra, Dave on Saorview etc.

    2 x Marconi SOLO-1 LNBs (10GHz)

1 x BSB 'Compact' LNB (ya didn't see many of those around!) - nose like a big black Crayola crayon - think they went with a small dish (35cm) which I don't have.

2 x ADX Plus - remember them? ahhh.... none of yer DiSeq and suchlike folderols for us hard-core.

I might have a few Squarials stored away - depends whether She threw them out after she got rid of me.

Might be some other bits and pieces - much of the shed yet to be explored.

If you have a Squarial I'd certainly take one out of interest. :)

Gracias but I prefer individual items on a white background. Inside a white bath works well. Reduces the shadows. :)

The Marconi LNB used to be called "the bullet LNB" (and other more rude names!)

They are in the recycling bin at this stage tho not yet gone.
Couldn't be a*sed to take individual shots so here's a group shot on a white background (a bath, as you suggested...):

I know I'm a month late but if you (or anyone) still has Global ATX converters then let me know. I am playing around with upconverters/downconveters for specialised off-band TV and they might come in useful. Also if you are dumping working LNBs (any type) I might be interested though shipping might be more than they are worth.

If you have small dishes, analogue receivers etc I would be interested too.

I'm in greater Dublin and can collect/pay postage etc.

    Thanks in advance

The ADX was used because original Astra receivers were designed for LNBs with a local oscillator of 10.0 GHz. This allowed channels from 10.950-12.150 GHz to be fed to the receiver (assuming a 950-2150 MHz IF). It had nothing to do with 22 kHz switching, this was only used by dual band LNBs which came later.

When Astra 1D launched, it used frequencies outside the normal Ku band spectrum, 10.7-10.95 GHz, requiring an LNB with LO of 9.75 GHz, allowing channels from 10.7-11.9 GHz to be fed to the receiver. As this was outside the official range of a 10.0 GHz LNB and receiver, 1D's channels could not be picked up on older equipment.

The ADX Plus worked by shifting the IF up or down by 250 MHz, allowing the 10.0 GHz LNB and receiver to pick up the 1D channels. The onscreen frequency was incorrect when the IF was shifted, so an Astra 1D channel on 10.759 GHz would show up on the receiver as 11.009.

Nope, was just a child at the time they were out. I had a big interest in satellite television so absorbed the info like a sponge. :)
