How can I cancel my hotmail e-mail account?

    Basically got struck with a virus or something which prevents me from accessing my e-mail and which has sent spam mail and viruses to all my contacts. I have already set up a new account but am looking to cancel my existing one so as to stop it sending more viruses. I have consulted the help desk option on the hotmail homepage but it's like trying to get blood from a stone. How do I got about deleting my old account?

    Sign in to your old email on t'web, go here, enter password, done.

    Did that but was left with an option of sending my password to an email address that I don't know, and to my old phone number.....
